Shop steward, safety representative, treasurer, and deburrer – a beloved colleague goes by many names, and these are just some of the roles Annelise has taken on at Tinby over the past 40 years.
I never intended to stay this long. It was only supposed to be for a short period until I found something else. But one day led to another, and suddenly 40 years had passed," says Annelise, who had her first day at Tinby on Monday, March 17, 1980. She originally trained in business in Bogense at a hardware store but was laid off after a year and a half due to cutbacks. Since Annelise had been diagnosed with psoriasis, it was convenient for the company to use that as a basis for her dismissal, as the disease and knowledge about it were not widespread in the 1970s. However, at Tinby, she was given a chance thanks to Niels Bomholt's father, who was a chemical engineer at the time—and also had psoriasis.
Annelise still vividly remembers her first task at Tinby. She started in pre-processing, where she was assigned to mill and sand components using a vibrating sander. She wasn’t particularly fond of the job, but she didn’t let it discourage her. Fortunately, six months later, the roller department became busier, and Annelise saw her chance to transfer. She was thrilled with the move—so much so that she ended up working in the roller department for 35 years. But nothing lasts forever, and in 2015, there wasn’t enough work in that department, leading to her transfer to the changing mat section, where she now deburrs components. For the past nine months, she has alternated between working in the roller department and the changing mat section as needed.
In her free time, Annelise mostly enjoys relaxing at her home on Kærgårdstoften and at her summer house in Jørgensø. She could have retired two years ago, but then what would she do? There’s not as much to keep her busy now that both of her sons have moved out—one to study journalism and the other working as an officer in the air force—and her husband won’t retire for a few more years.
Annelise used to spend much of her free time at Tinby—she served as a shop steward for 10–12 years and as a safety representative for 8–10 years. She was even a member of the AS board, which participated in management meetings, though that board has since been dissolved. Today, she is the treasurer of the Tinby Club and a member of the cooperation committee, where she helps purchase new workwear and footwear as well as gifts for anniversaries and birthdays. She has even saved a life—back in 1995, a woman collapsed in production, and Annelise had to administer first aid. Yes, Annelise has truly seen it all.
The anniversary will be celebrated with a reception in the canteen on March 17, 2020, at 9:00 AM.
A huge congratulations to Annelise Jensen on her anniversary!
