On March 12, Tinby proudly announced that Yasin Elyasi had completed the two-year integration education program and could now call himself a process operator. The program is a win-win for all parties involved—Tinby, the municipality, and Yasin.
We are very proud that Yasin has successfully completed the program and is also the first in the municipality to do so. This reinforces our impression of him—he takes his work and education very seriously, and that attitude fits perfectly with our company. That is also why we are delighted to have offered him a permanent position," says Torben Nielsen, CEO of Tinby.
Three-year trial scheme
The IGU (Integration and Job Training Program) is a combination of education and work at a collectively agreed-upon apprentice salary, aimed at newly arrived refugees. The education is a three-year pilot scheme designed to give refugees between the ages of 18-40 who have lived in Denmark for less than five years the same conditions as students in vocational education programs. It is a result of the tripartite agreement from 2016 on labor market integration between the government and labor market partners.
Active contributor
Jan Nørgaard, who is the production manager at Tinby, took Yasin under his wing because he believed that Tinby had a social responsibility, and he doesn't regret it. "At Tinby, we want to be an active contributor to helping refugees integrate quickly into the Danish job market under the same conditions as other employees, which is why we didn't hesitate to take on the responsibility for the learning process. By leading the way, we also hope to inspire other companies to do the same."
Team spirit, togetherness, and attitude
According to Jan Nørgaard, Yasin's success is due to several factors: "First and foremost, the team spirit and togetherness we have here. Many of Tinby's employees have welcomed Yasin and supported him, and at the same time, Yasin's attitude is certainly also a big part of the success. So, this is definitely something we will do again," says Jan Nørgaard.
To earn one's own money...
Yasin is just one of the 1,955 registered in an IGU program, and he has worked hard to find a foothold in the Danish labor market. Therefore, it has also meant something special to him that Tinby has given him an opportunity: – Earning my own money gives a very special feeling. It is important to stand on your own feet, as he expresses it – in Danish. Because he has just learned that in the meantime as well.
Yasin was celebrated
At Yasin's reception, business consultant Foed Kebaier was present to congratulate Yasin as the first in Nordfyns Municipality to complete the program. But Yasin's colleagues also showed how much they appreciate him, as he was spoiled with gifts from both the staff association and Tinby.
