Dynaudio, the Danish speaker manufacturer, has won the German Design Award Gold 2020 for their stunning Confidence 50, whose polyurethane baffle is produced at Tinby A/S. This is the third time that a Danish company has been recognized for a design product manufactured at Tinby.

The award is exclusively given to pioneers who contribute to the German and international design scene. According to the expert jury, the Confidence 50 has won the German Design Award Gold 2020 for its sleek silhouette and striking baffle – in the 'Entertainment' category. As stated in the jury's reasoning, the recognition is particularly due to the polyurethane baffle produced by Tinby.

„Baflen er lavet af polyuretan og skaber en akustisk linse, designet specifikt til at dirigere lyden mod den kvalitetsbevidste lytter. Hver kurve, kant og vinkel på baflen er designet til at kontrollere og optimere lydbølgerne perfekt.”

… as stated in the jury's reasoning (own translation, ed.).

The PUR in which the speaker's baffle is molded is perfectly suited for applications such as cabinets, insulation products, and panels, as the material offers better acoustic damping properties than, for example, wood. It combines a lightweight structure with high rigidity, has strong impact resistance, and is resistant to shocks and scratches – qualities that the Confidence 50 manages to utilize to the fullest.

At Tinby, there is great joy that Dynaudio has caught the attention of the design council, whose judging committee consists of prominent figures in architecture and design.

We are absolutely thrilled for our customer because this award is a truly remarkable recognition! The panel judging the products is experienced and highly critical, so winning for outstanding design quality demonstrates exceptionally successful features and solutions. Naturally, we are especially pleased that the jury explicitly highlights the properties of PUR," says Tinby’s Sales Engineer, Michael Lind.

With the new Confidence series and the gold award recognition from the German Design Award, Dynaudio cements its position among the world's finest speaker manufacturers. Their products exude top-class technology, quality, and luxurious finishes, fitting any lifestyle – enabling a detailed experience with impressive sonic performance.

PURfection: New Danish-developed technology aims to create a circular solution for a widely used plastic type.

Polyurethane – also known as PUR – is used in everything from refrigerators, shoes, and mattresses to wind turbine blades and cars. This versatile plastic type makes up eight percent of global plastic production but is very difficult to recycle. Now, a number of large companies and knowledge partners are joining forces to make used PUR plastic recyclable, so it can replace fossil-based polyurethane.
