BACKGROUND: Technical Department – A Strong Backbone

When a company like Tinby A/S is engaged in the advanced development and production of technical components, including polyurethane, it is essential to uphold the responsibility of being a strong partner for our customers. Development is moving fast, markets and organizations are constantly evolving, and we are met with well-defined requirements for quality and refinement levels.

Our success, and consequently our customers' success, is created during the development and implementation phases. That’s why we strive to improve processes and make them more efficient, and why we continuously work to have the best and most qualified team—especially in our technical department.

A Department in Constant Motion

Tinby’s technical department consists of engineers and technicians operating from both Denmark and our division in Poland—an adaptable department in motion and continuous development.

We must always be open to new ideas, see opportunities rather than limitations, and be ready to take initiative. Our customers invest significant resources in developing the best products on the market, and our role is to support them in their development and production process," says Morten Fogh Møller, who has led Tinby’s technical team since 2016.

Morten Fogh Møller represents the younger generation of engineers who, as relatively recent graduates, bring the latest knowledge of processes and technology directly from educational institutions. Structuring the organization so that innovation and experience go hand in hand is one of Tinby’s strengths. The 45-year-old company values trust and mutual respect for each other’s expertise as a fundamental principle and a prerequisite for maintaining credibility with customers. In addition to the younger engineers, the technical department also includes a team of experienced engineers and technicians with 10, 20, and even 30 years of tenure—employees who possess deep specialist knowledge within the company’s core competencies, a level of expertise that can only be acquired in-house.

Project Teams – When Innovation and Experience Go Hand in Hand

It is a great strength to be able to assemble technical resources so broadly. Tinby has developed a model that is implemented immediately when a customer brings a development project. As early in the process as possible, Tinby sets up a project team consisting of exactly the professionals most relevant to the specific project.

"There are no two development projects that are alike," explains Morten Fogh Møller. "That’s why we assemble our task force group from project to project, ensuring that it consists of skills and experience tailored to the specific area of the project.

This organization ensures systematic and efficient planning, coordination, and implementation of the project."

Tinby aims to be an extension of its customers' resources in the form of knowledge and experience and to take responsibility for large parts of the value chain – from idea, design, and development to production, refinement, and distribution.

"Customers can involve Tinby to the extent needed," says Morten Fogh Møller. "And we know from experience that this can be a great help for many companies in a busy daily routine."

Tinby has extensive experience in managing complex projects, both large and small outsourcing tasks, as well as developing new components and complete systems from idea to finished product – and in this process, Tinby’s technical department is a key factor.

Ongoing Internal and External Training

Ongoing internal and external training of staff is a given. Only by being an engaging and development-oriented workplace can we create the greatest possible value for our customers.

Chemical technician Jørgen Rasmussen confirms this approach:

"It is essential to think innovatively and stay updated on our technologies both nationally and internationally in order to be the best link between our customers and production units," says Jørgen Rasmussen, plastics specialist and chemical technician, who has been with the company for 20 years.

Jørgen Rasmussen is thus one of several employees who have gained their experience from multiple plastics companies within SP Group.

This resource sharing is an important synergy effect within the group, where there is always a plastic solution available within the group’s framework. As is well known, SP Group manufactures molded items in all types of plastic and performs surface coatings on plastic and metal parts. The group is currently a leading supplier of plastic-processed parts to Danish industry, with an increasing export market and growing production from its own factories in Denmark, Poland, Latvia, Sweden, Slovakia, China, the USA, and Brazil.

Tinby Skumplast's polyurethane foam panels are used for insulation in refrigerated and freezer trucks, containers, and other transportation units due to the material's low weight and high compressive strength. Our goal is to reach potential customers and showcase our capabilities at the exhibition.

PURfection: New Danish-developed technology aims to create a circular solution for a widely used plastic type.

Polyurethane – also known as PUR – is used in everything from refrigerators, shoes, and mattresses to wind turbine blades and cars. This versatile plastic type makes up eight percent of global plastic production but is very difficult to recycle. Now, a number of large companies and knowledge partners are joining forces to make used PUR plastic recyclable, so it can replace fossil-based polyurethane.
