Baby WaterNest® – new product at Tinby

The company NMD Care identifies and develops hospital aids that support the healthy and natural psychomotor development of premature babies. Their product, Baby WaterNest®, is designed to simulate the womb environment and stimulate the development of premature infants. For this product, Tinby manufactures the frame, which contains water elements—specifically a 'mattress' at the bottom and a 'backrest' in the side section, shaped like a horseshoe.

Regarding the product and the collaboration with Tinby, Carinn Alluna, CEO of NMD Care, says:

When parents see and feel the Baby WaterNest® in the hospital, where their full attention is on their child, the WaterNest® should be the frame that provides them with a sense of security, joy, and comfort—through its touch, color, and shape. Product development is a long process, and along the way, plastic manufacturers referred us to one another—until we finally arrived at Tinby. The PUR material has the properties that give the aesthetic we were looking for while also enhancing the functional qualities the design was created for. That’s why we chose Tinby. The collaboration has evolved so that, with its knowledge of PUR and production, Tinby contributes to helping NMD Care achieve its goals with the product.

The flexible PUR used to manufacture Baby WaterNest® is a thermoset plastic that is perfectly suited for applications such as baby equipment, furniture components, and rehabilitation products. The parts that come into contact with the user are highly touch-friendly and soft. The surfaces maintain room temperature and never feel cold, are easy to clean, withstand daily wear and tear, and do not release phthalates.

Tinby has had the pleasure of working with this exciting and geometrically advanced component, which highlights the functional and aesthetic possibilities of PUR-based products for industries such as the healthcare sector.

Tinby Skumplast's polyurethane foam panels are used for insulation in refrigerated and freezer trucks, containers, and other transportation units due to the material's low weight and high compressive strength. Our goal is to reach potential customers and showcase our capabilities at the exhibition.

PURfection: New Danish-developed technology aims to create a circular solution for a widely used plastic type.

Polyurethane – also known as PUR – is used in everything from refrigerators, shoes, and mattresses to wind turbine blades and cars. This versatile plastic type makes up eight percent of global plastic production but is very difficult to recycle. Now, a number of large companies and knowledge partners are joining forces to make used PUR plastic recyclable, so it can replace fossil-based polyurethane.
